Your Move

Today, I learned that naming feelings is different than feeling them.

I've been great at rationalizing and intellectualizing my experience. I thought that if I could understand them, then I could control them.

I consumed knowledge to broaden my understanding of the inner workings.

I made connections, saw patterns, and thought I was integrating everything.

For a time, I was controlling them. For me naming the feeling made me dissociate from them. Like I was at a distance, looking at the idea of a feeling.

It reminds me of the end of the Thriller Bark Arc of One Piece.

Except I was taking my own pain out and storing it, not realizing that eventually I would have to feel it for myself.

The more knowledge I consumed, the more the illusion grew. I thought I knew what was going on.

Turns out I only understood what was happening. I didn't know anything.

The connections and patterns were real. I could teach others about them. I could see it in others.

I couldn't see it in myself.

It's curious how your darkest time forces you to see more clearly.

And what I realized was, I had to move.

Movement makes it real.

And the truth is, you're always moving. Even if you tell yourself you're not.

Now, it's your move.

From the Shore

Dear Reader,

One of my favourite quotes is from The Kybalion.

"Knowledge, like wealth, is intended for use."

And today, this quote takes on a different meaning.

"The lips of wisdom are sealed but to the ears of understanding." - The Kybalion

It continues to be a theme of meeting old learnings with new understandings.

Knowledge, in the colloquial sense, often refers to information. Having information is seen as an advantage. Just like having money. But if you do not use the information, it has no impact. Just like money.

But simply having information isn't enough.

Having information doesn't mean that you can use it. So information doesn't directly grant knowledge.

True knowledge requires knowing.

Knowing is felt.

Before you can use it, you must be able to embody your understanding.

And that was my biggest gap.

For others, I could see when information was missing. I could see when information wasn't understood. I could see when understanding wasn't applied. And I could help others feel it.

I wasn't doing the same for myself.

If knowledge is intended for use, it's because use is what makes knowledge real.

For those who want to move,

You can.

There is no qualifier for movement. It can be big. It's usually small. Big movements are just many small movements, one after another.

You're already moving.

Your Move

Move with me.

You don't have to do the work alone. You also don't have to do it with just one person, group, organization, or whatever. Your journey is unique. So is mine. If you want to learn more about where I've been to know how I've ended up here, and also to know where I'm going you have a couple options.

1) Click the button at the bottom that says "Move With Me". Give me your email and I'll send you my story in a sequence. It won't be chronological, but the order they came to me. Cause life is unpredictable, isn't it?

2) Just explore the website. Right now most things live on my about page ("JON" in the menu. That's me!).

Somewhere on the site is the Haizhen Framework too. It's meant to work for you how you want to work.

See you around.
